The main scientific interest concerns in application of dielectric methods to investigate various questions related to structure of liquids and solids, phase transitions, material science, and medical physics. He specializes in broadband dielectric spectroscopy and in dielectric experiments carried out in extremely strong electric field (non-linear dielectric effect). In the area of phase transitions, he is interested in critical phenomena in liquids and liquid mixtures, especially in critical temperature shift caused by electric field. In material science, he deals with innovative materials protecting from electromagnetic pollution and military applications. In medical physics area, he is an inventor of an intra-operative method and equipment enabling the localization of cancer tissue in cutting margins in breast surgery. Professor Orzechowski is a member of Polish Chemical Society and a chairman of Physical Organic Chemistry Section, member of Dielectric Society, former director of Lower Silesia Science Festival, regional coordinator of Chemical Olympiad, organizer and chairman of many conferences and meetings.
